Description

Definitively a more complex style with graphite and some fresh cedary wood on offer. Also has cigar tobacco, dried red berries and herbal accents. The palate has ripe, smoothly rendered tannins with intense acidity lifting the wine. Long, fresh and regal, this wine needs some time. Try from 2022 [until 2037]. Score - 95. Tasting Notes

The purity of expression found in the Ripe al Convento owes much to the maturity of the vines and the depth of the roots. These roots allow the vines access to moisture, permitting consistent development and ripening even during hot, dry summers such as that experienced in 2012. This is a wine that always demonstrates poise, harmony, elegance and refinement. Look for floral and spice inflections atop black fruit, leather and earth.
