Description

Deep mahogany with a fine, lacy head. Aromas of sour cherry and dried fruit are underscored by balsamic vinegar and a hint of lacquer. Tart and sour flavours are balanced by malty sweetness and spicy oak notes that carry through to a lengthy finish. Drinkable and refreshing, this would be a great match for sauerbraten.

Tasting Notes

Deep mahogany colour with creamy head; funky aromas of sour cherry, raisin, vanilla and balsamic vinegar, notes of red wine, oak and earth; off-dry, medium bodied, complex mix of tart acidity, earth, sweet dark fruit and caramel flavours with vinous, old-wood and crab-apple notes; finish is long, balanced and refreshing.

Serving Suggestion

Quite versatile with food; try pairing with char-grilled beef, smoked meat or fish, pork dishes, duck breast with cherry port sauce, or pungent cheese such as blue veined types.
